Mahathat Chedi Ming Molih Sri Burapah (มหาธาตุเจดีย์มิ่งโมลีศรีบูรพา)
Thai. Name of a Buddhist temple in the
tambon
Nong Khahng Khok ( หนองข้างคอก) of
Chonburi,
located on a hilltop along the
Bangkok-Pattaya
highway near Khao Khiao (fig.),
overlooking this seaside town and provincial capital. The temple has a 35 meter high
pagoda
built in a style akin to that of
the Mahabodhi pagoda in
Bodhgaya
(India) and has a pale green with
golden colour, the green referring to Khao Khiao, which literally
means ‘Green Hill’.
It was built on the initiative of
Luang Poo
Kliang (เกลี้ยง) in order to commemorate the
80th Birthday Anniversary of
King
Bhumipon Adunyadet,
i.e.
Rama IX,
and the first stone was
laid on 20 December 2007.
