Gu Byauk Gyi Zedi Wetkyi-in (ဂူပြောက်ကြီးစေတီဝက်ကြီးအင်း)
Burmese.
‘Wetkyi-in
Great Cave’.
Name of a Buddhist temple in

		      Bagan, located to the
Southeast of
Wetkyi-in Village. This early 13th-century temple
was built in the
gu-style
by
King
Kyansittha (fig.)
and has an Indian-style pyramidal spire,
reminiscent of that of the Maha Bodhi Pagoda in Bagan. Its interior has some
exceptional

              frescoes
depicting
scenes from the

              jatakas and some large
Buddha images
seated in the
bhumisparsa pose. There is another
temple of the same name to the North of Myinkaba
Village, which ‒to distinguish
between these two temples of the same name‒ is usually referred to as
Gu Byauk Gyi Zedi Myinkaba (fig.).
