This woman in Mae Hong Son is folding the giant leaves of a tree known in Thai as ton phluang (fig.) over long bamboo sticks, which she ties up with thin bamboo strips called tok (fig.). When done, they are attached onto the framework of the roof of a hut or forest dwelling (fig.).
