A skilled fine arts artist is creating a 
gilded lacquer 
design (fig.) 
by applying the outlines of a Thai mythological figure in a ‘pasty resist’ onto the
polished 
  
lacquered surface 
of a window panel at 
the 
 
wihaan of 
Wat Hua Lampong (fig.). 
Later the whole surface will be coated with a resin and 
gold leaf applied, which 
will stick on the outlined 
pattern. Then the surface is gently washed with water removing the resist and
