In the year 2013, the General Post Office's Neoclassic building (fig.) in Bangkok, which was built in 1940, was renovated to mark ten years of Thailand Post and 130 years of postal service in Thailand.

For the inauguration of the renovated General Post Office, which took place on 4 August 2013, the building was decorated with a giant flag of Thailand as well as with an elongated banner of the personal royal flag of Queen Sirikit (fig.), who also has her birthday in August, whilst the event itself was presided over by Princess Sirinthon.

Outside, the busy car park in front of the building has made way for a more fresh and cozy plaza.
