Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker (female)
A female Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker, spotted in Kanchanaburi.
Females are brownish olive above and pale below.
Like the male (fig.), it also has a red rump and red uppertail-coverts, but those are not visible in these pictures taken from below.
Seen from below it is actually very similar to the female Plain Flowerpecker, yet it has a somewhat paler lower mandible and a less curved bill.
It has a size of only 8.5 to 9 centimeters and belongs to the smallest birds in the country.
