The Atlas Moth caterpillar is bluish green, with two ring-like dots in shades of pink on the posterior and adorned with fleshy spines along its back, which are covered in a waxy, white substance (fig.). After reaching its full length of about 12 centimeters, it will start spinning its cocoon and pupate, and four weeks later emerge as an adult moth (fig.). In Thai, any kind of caterpillar, worm, maggot or grub is either referred to as non or as duang.
