Atlas Moth
Thailand has many species of nocturnal butterflies, including this large male Atlas Moth. It is also known as the snake headed moth due to the crude resemblances to snakes heads on the wing tips, that are thought to ward off potential predators.
It is related to ‒and similar in appearance to‒ the Ailanthus Silkmoth (fig.).
