The name of
Wat
Tham
Pla
in
Chiang Rai translates as ‘Fish Cave Temple’,
but due to the many
macaque
on the compound it is also referred to as
Monkey Cave Temple. Here some are playing near the
temple's
laterite
chedi.
The temple is located just about 15
kilometers south from the Thai border with
Myanmar
and some of its
Buddha images seem to have been
influenced by the typical Burmese style, as is the one
on the right.
