San Gu Mao Lu (三顧茅廬), i.e. ‘Three Visits to the Thatched Cottage’, is a scene from the Three Kingdoms.

It depicts the warlord Liu Bei (fig.) and his generals Kuan U (fig.) and Zhang Fei (fig.), who went to see the gifted strategist Zhu Ge Liang (fig.) to recruit him to their cause by visiting him 3 times, thus showing their sincerity and eagerness.
