Hin Sahm Wahn (หินสามวาฬ)
Thai. ‘Three
Whales Rocks’. Name of a group of three,
bare, elongated, rocks in
Beung Kahn,
that are surrounded by green forest and
—especially when seen from above— are reminiscent of a pod of whales, hence
the name. They are part of a mountain called
Phu Singh,
i.e.
‘Lion
Mountain’. Since the summits
of these rocks are rounded and no balustrades have been put in order to maintain
their natural beauty, only a small number of visitors a time are allowed to walk
on the pinnacles, whilst some dotted lines painted in yellow indicate how close
to the rounded edge one can go safely before it becomes a slippery slope.
