2nd week: Rocket Festival (fig.), all over Isaan with the most impressive festivities taking place in Yasothon.

3rd: Birthday of H.M. Queen Suthida.

mid June: Phi Tah Khohn Festival in Dahn Saai, Loei.

OCTOBER

early October: Water Buffalo Races, Chonburi.

early October: Phra Chak Offerings Festival in Pattani as well as in Surat Thani where it is combined with the annual Boat Race Festival.

13th: Wan Tamruat, i.e. National Police Day, nationwide.

mid October to mid November: Kathin, a one month celebration following the end of the Buddhist Lent, called ouk pansa. Celebrated nationwide and in Nan longboat races (fig.) are held to mark the occassion, and in Mae Hong Son the Chong Para Festival takes place.

23th: Chulalongkorn Day, nationwide with special celebrations at the Royal Plaza in Bangkok.

full moon: phenomenon of Bangfai Phayanaag or the Naga Fireballs in Nong Khai.

NOVEMBER

full moon: Loi Krathong Festival, nationwide with the most impressive festivities being held in the North, especially in Sukhothai and Chiang Mai, where the festival is called Yi Peng.

first week (to early December): Bua Thong Flower Blooming Season (fig.), Mae Hong Son.

third week: Elephant Round-up (fig.), Surin.

late November (to early December): Week of the Bridge over the River Kwae (fig.), Kanchanburi.

DECEMBER

4th: Trooping the Colour, Military Parade of the Royal Guards at the Roya Plaza in Bangkok.
