A the present-day main entrance to this inner
courtyard is a small
mandapa-style
tazaung
that houses
a
Buddha image
standing on a
lotus
pedestal and performing
a
varada
mudra.
Akin to
Ananda Phaya
(fig.),
the
terraces surrounding the
base of the stupa originally featured
550
glazed
terracotta
tiles of a dark
greyish-green colour. |

portray scenes of the
jataka,
as swell as other Buddhist legends and parables
(fig.), though some
tiles are nowadays missing.
