In the course of 2016-2017 AD, the main
stupa
of the
Shwezigon Phaya
in
Bagan
(fig.)
has been
renovated.
During this time,
goldbeaters (fig.)
produced fresh, hand-beaten
gold plates (fig.)
that were applied onto the stupa.
To provide a work space
away from onlookers, as well as some shadow, a
bamboo
scaffolding closed off with a screen of plaited bamboo
mats, was erected.
