At the foot of the mountain on which
Wat Phrathat Doi Kham (fig.)
is a shrine dedicated Puh Sae Yah Sae,
the guardian spirits of
Chiang Mai, who together with their son, Suthep Reusi, wander the slopes of
Doi Suthep.
Since they are legendary associated
with a story about buffalo sacrifice, the shrine is scattered with
edifices of
Water Buffalo, including a
life-sized statue of both a dark buffalo and an albino buffalo.
