A Red Pierrot, spotted in the garden of a temple, in a small mountain village near Heho.

On the upperside, this striking butterfly has black wings with black-and-white fringes, and large orange patches on the hindwings, which have short, black, white-tipped tails.

On the underside, the wings are mostly white with black spots, and a reddish-orange band with white spots, that more or less correspondents with the orange patches of the upperside.

Above, its body is mostly black, with diffuse white rings at the end of the abdomen, while below it is white. It has black antennae with white tips and white ringed shafts.
