Hpo Win Taung Caves
The Hpo Win Taung Caves (fig.) are located about 25 kilometers to the West of the city of Monywa, across the Chindwin River.
The Buddhist complex consist of 492 small cave temples (fig.), that were built in the limestone cliffs between the 14th and 18th centuries AD.
The caves at Hpo Win Taung or Pho Win Hill are carved out from volcanic rock and adjacent to Shwe Ba Hill.
