NATURE & GASTRONOMY
Himalayan Striped Squirrel (in the wild)
A Himalayan Striped Squirrel climbing up a bodhi tree at Wat Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai.
Its dorsal striped pattern serves as an efficient camouflage on fissured tree trunks.
This small squirrel has a body length of just 11 centimeters and an equally long tail.
It is almost exclusively arboreal, preferring big forests, fruit trees and coconut palms.
Besides eating fruit, it also feeds on bark.
