The so-called ‘Grand Canyon’ of Chonburi is in fact an old ore quarry in which at the bottom a lake has formed, which has been nicknamed Huai Kapi Emerald Lake, after the tambon in which it is located.

Due to the light hue of the mountain-like walls of the former mine, the place is also nicknamed Snow Mountain. In addition, a small hill of sediment, probably once excavated from the pit and discarded on the side, reminds of a snow-covered mountain top (fig.).
