A statue of Fudo Myoo, made of Kusunoki or Camphorwood (fig.). In Chinese, this deity is known as Budong (fig.) and in Sanskrit as Acala or Acalanatha (fig.). He is typically portrayed holding a vajra sword in one hand and a lariat in the other, which he uses to bind ghosts and evil spirits.

Fudo Myoo is also referred to as simply Fudo, and is sometimes portrayed with one fang pointing up and another pointing down, as well as with a braid of hair on one side of his head. The flaming nimbus is said to be the flame of the Garuda (fig.).
