A
Flat-tailed Gecko spotted clinging onto the
ceiling of an ancient edifice in Fathepur Sikri (fig.).
This kind of house gecko, with the scientific names Cosymbotus platyurus and
Hemidactylus platyurus, grows up to 12.5 centimeters long and is found in
many subtropical and tropical places of Asia.

Its colouration varies greatly, but it can easily be recognized by its flattened tail, the webbing at the base of the
toes, and the fringe of slack skin along the body.
