  pahng peut lohk

Thailand

A crowned Buddha in the standing pose of disclosing the worlds, which is known in Thai as pahng peut lohk (fig.) and in which the arms are pendent alongside his body, the forearms lifted slightly outwards and the palms turned forward. This gesture represents the Buddha disclosing Trailohk, showing the three worlds of heaven, earth and hell, simultaneously. This Buddha image stands at the entrance of the wihaan in Bangkok's Wat Hua Lampong (fig.).
