A Common Lionfish, also known as Devil Firefish, at the Tri Nguyen Aquarium in Nha Trang. It is white, with a mixture of broad bars and narrower stripes, that in this individual are orangey-reddish to greyish-brown in colour.

VENOMOUS! This ray-finned fish represents a major health threat with increasing envenomation and significant morbidities. Its spines are highly venomous and in case of severe envenoming it is potentially lethal to humans. Upon contact, it can cause cardiovascular, neuromuscular, and cytolytic effects ranging from mild reactions, such as swelling to extreme pain and paralysis in upper and lower extremities.
