Buddha covered in small Buddha images

Thailand

A bronze copy the Buddha image at the Lawkananda Zedi in Sittwe, in Myanmar's Rakhine State, previously known as Arakan. Its surface is completely covered with bas-reliefs of countless smaller Buddha images, apart for the face. These embossed images, akin to a style of Radiating Avalokitesvara (fig.), are believed to represent the bodhisattva's chadok or jataka, i.e. his previous incarnations, in Myanmar said to total 550.
