He was the younger brother of King
Rama I and a great warrior who often fought at the side of his elder brother. In 1785, when the Burmese launched a major attack on Siam, he took up position in
Kanchanaburi and successfully blocked the Three Pagoda Pass, the key Burmese invasion route.
