and scarlet
gourd, is
the
small
bulbous
fruit of a
vine with
the
botanical
name
Coccinia
grandis.
When mature, the fruit is
reddish in
colour, with
soft flesh and a soft
skin.
However, it
is the green
(fig.) and immature
fruit that
is usually
eaten.
