The natural film of a fine,
silvery-whitish or
bluish-grey, somewhat powder-like or waxy substance
on the surface of some plants,
fruits and vegetables (fig.), is called
nuan in Thai. It is equivalent to the
English botanical term
glaucous, which derives from Greek
and means ‘bluish-grey’. It is a feature of this small epiphyte, known as
Silver Star
(fig.), which
has here been mounted on a
dried
pong pong seed
(fig.). |
