TRADITIONS & UTENSILS
live fish boats
Live fish boats as used on the Mae Khong river delta in Vietnam to transport live fish to the fish markets in the vicinity.
The fish is taken from breeding ponds in huge baskets and transferred into the hull of the boat, where it is kept alive during the journey.
The sides of the boats have an opening with a raster, which allows the hull to fill with water once loaded, yet stops the fish from escaping.
