A rather rare female
Asian Koel spotted perching on the branch of a tree near
Wat Phra Sri Sanphet (fig.)
in
Ayutthaya. It is
brownish on the crown and has rufous streaks on the head. This particular
one is of the nominate race.
The back, rump and wing coverts are dark brown with mostly whitish spots, whilst the whitish underparts are striped, streaked, spotted or barred. It is overall less brown than females of other subspecies (fig.).
