Deer represented in Buddhist art (fig.) usually refers to Mrigadava, the deer park where the Buddha delivered his first sermon and in mythology Phra Phareuhad-sabodih, the god of Thursday rides a mareuk (fig.).

These species, with short legs, brownish hair and a creamy throat and inner ears, are Hog Deer (fig.) that roam freely on the compound of Meuang Boraan in Samut Prakan.
