An
overall blackish
bee-fly,
resting with its wings at the swept back angle, typical with many bee-flies,
and with the latter part of the wings transparent. It also has some white
colouring on the posterior part of its abdomen.
This
rather small fly of the genus Hemipenthes is
likely Hemipenthes referens, a species endemic
to the Orient, that occurs
from Pakistan and India to
Myanmar,
and in parts
of
Thailand.
