White-lipped Pit Viper (heat-sensing organ)
As with all pit vipers, the White-lipped Pit Viper has heat-sensing organs, i.e. pits on the side of its head, located between its eye and nostril. In addition it has ‘white lips’, i.e. white, pale yellow or pale green sides of the head.
