The buildings of
Wat Nong Nok Chum (fig.),
a
Buddhist temple
in
Kamphaeng Phet,
are mostly built out of wood, often using large trunks of
exceptional trees as pillars, and of which many have
multiple burrs.
The
wihaan,
located near the north gate, resembles a wooden chalet of which the
northern staircase is flanked by a green naga on one side and a blue
chang patjay naaken,
which has the body of a
snake
with the head of an
elephant
on the other side (fig.).
On the inside, the structure
is also made of wood and the principal
Buddha image
it houses is of a dark chestnut colour.
