Wat Lahm Chang is a
royal Buddhist temple
in
Chiang Mai,
built
during the time that King
Mengrai (fig.)
came to built the city,
and which is named after a former nearby
elephant feeding ground
where the royal animals where tethered.
According
to
Lan Na
tradition, there is a protruding porch and staircase on
the side of the
wihaan,
i.e. the prayer hall, that is used for monks to enter
and leave.
