The Great Departure of Prince Siddhartha, the Buddha-to-be, in Burmese style. Withouth waking them, he silently takes a last look at his wife and their son, who are asleep on the bed, before setting off to start his religious life. He is dressed in white and wearing a gaung-baung, i.e. a Myanmar turban (fig.), and accompanied by his servant Chandakain and his beloved horse Kanthaka (fig.).
