thanaka (wood)
Most markets in Myanmar have ample vendors (fig.) selling large chunks of wood from the Wood-apple Tree, which are used to make thanaka.
Its bark is rubbed on a stone slab in order to obtain a powder, which is mixed with water and used as a face decoration and sun block (fig.).
