Women of the Thai (Tai) ethnic group on a visit in Hanoi, wearing their traditional attire.

Members of this group wear a long-sleeved blouse or a short-sleeved shirt in pale blue, purple, white or pink colour, over a long black skirt with a green waistband. The short-sleeved shirt is trimmed with a black collar-like band with silver buttons or clips, whereas the long-sleeved blouse has no buttons, but is of one piece.

The latter is typically covered with an embroidered cloth that is wrapped around the lower torso, and stretches from the breasts to navel.
