officially opened in September 2006 and
besides all international commercial flights, it also handles many
domestic flights.
The airport, which due to its
location in marshland, has been nicknamed Swampy, has a capacity of
handling 76 flight operations per hour.

cargo per year.
Suwannaphum, also spelled Suvarnabhumi, means
‘Golden land’ and refers to
a land mentioned in many
ancient sources, which tallies with

Asia.
