Sutaungpyay Phaya
Sutaungpyay Phaya, the Buddhist temple on the summit of Mandalay Hill (fig.) is known as the ‘Pagoda of the Fulfilled Wish’ or ‘Wish-granting Pagoda’.
The temple towers above the city of Mandalay Hill and the Royal Palace, the Irrawaddy River and the plain below.
It has a large terrace that gets flocked towards the evening with people who come to enjoy the sunset.
The temple was built in the 11th century AD by King Anawrahta (fig.).
