Design reflecting the concept
of a lifelong education, which is the mission of the
Sukhothai
Thammathirat
Open University,
which was named in honour of King
Prajadhipok,
who once held the title
‘Prince
Sukhothai Thammaracha’
(i.e.
Dhammaracha)
prior his accession to the throne as King
Rama VII.
In the background are the Thai letters มสธ (MST), i.e.
the
University's acronym, whilst in the top left corner is its
symbol, which, besides a
phum-shaped
background and a plaque with the text
mahawithayahlai
(มหาวิทยาลัย),
i.e. ‘university’,
as well as a banner with the name Sukhothai Thammathirat (สุโขทัยธรรมาธิราช),
also has the
royal emblem of King Prajadhipok
(fig.),
i.e. the
Phra Maha Phichai Mongkut
or ‘Great Crown of
Victory’, above the
discus-and-trident
emblem of the Royal House of
Chakri
(fig.),
and a rack with arrows known as
the
Prajadhipok Saktitejana.
The logo and text on the stamp are in dark green, the colour
of choice of this university, which corresponds to
Wednesday in the
sih prajam wan
system, the day
of the
week
on which Rama VII was
born (fig.). |
