The Singapore Night Safari was opened
in 1994 as the world's first nocturnal zoo. It is
located on a 40 hectares plot of land of rainforest,
adjacent to the Singapore Zoo (fig.) and managed by Wildlife
Reserves Singapore.
The zoo has three
walking trails that can be explored on foot, while other
parts can be visited by an electrically powered tourist
tram. It houses over a 1,000 animals of about 120
species.
