Shwesandaw Phaya
in
Bagan. This
temple was built
in 1057 by
King
Anawrahta (fig.)
to enshrine some sacred hairs of the
Buddha.
The pinnacle of this stupa reportedly has a height of 99.9
meters, making it on of the tallest pagodas of Bagan and dwarfing
Sabbannu Phaya
(fig.),
i.e. the area's tallest Buddhist temple with a height of just over 60 meters. |
