is here only partially visible. Whereas in English the verb to shanghai
means ‘to
force someone to do something or go somewhere’
or ‘to enroll or lure (a sailor) for the crew of a ship by unscrupulous
means’, translated from Chinese Shanghai (上海) literally means ‘above the
sea’ or ‘on/upon the sea’, referring to its coastal position.
