  Charoenrat 32 Bridge

Thailand

Saphaan Charoenrat 32, i.e. ‘Prosperity 32 Bridge’, spans Khlong Maha Naak (fig.) and was opened in 1912 to celebrate the 32nd birthday of King Wachirawut, the event after which the bridge is named.

The handrails of this bridge are adorned with five-headed nagas, a hint to the canal's name, while a dark chakra-like disc on each of the nagas hints to the Chakri dynasty.

The discs bear King Rama VI's royal cipher, i.e. W. Ch. R. (ว.ช.ร.) and on either side, in the middle of the handrail, is a plaque with the bridge's name and the year 131 RE, the year the bridge was finished according to the Rattanakosin Era.
