  Sanda Muni Phaya

Sanda Muni Phaya, a Buddhist temple located at the foot of Mandalay Hill, adjacent to as well as similar to the Kuthodaw Pagoda (fig.).

 

It houses houses 1,772 marble steles inscribed with the Sutta (395 slabs); Vinaya (1,207 slab); and Abhidhamma (170 slab), which were erected in 1913 AD by the hermit Ukhandi (Ukhan Tithe), and placed in numerous freestanding stupas.
