  Rocket Festival (parade)

Thailand

A boon bang fai float (fig.) used in the Rocket Festival parade, which is held annually in Isaan. Behind the rocket launcher, which is decorated with the figurehead of a naga (fig.), is a small open-sided pavilion in which sits a girl dressed in traditional attire, and it is accompanied by music, dancers and other floats.

Some floats have an effigy of a white horse ridden by a boy and a girl in royal attire, while other floats carry a small tree which is climbed by one or two boys wearing just a white pah nung folden into a short (fig.).
