  Red Dakini

China

This malevolent Red Dakini has a red complexion, a ‘third eye’ or urna in the middle of the forehead, and wears a necklace of human skulls, as well as a crown decorated with five human crania. She also carries a staff topped with a human skull and two severed heads, one blue ‒the other green. She feeds on human flesh and drinks from a kapala, i.e. a cup made from a human skull, and filled with blood (fig.). Here she is surrounded by a decorative frame of red flames (fig.), while her eyebrows are also in the form of flames.
