birth of Buddha (Phrasut)
A stucco decoration on the eastern gable of the most prominent pagoda at Wat Mahathat (fig.) in Sukhothai. It shows the Phrasut or birth of the Buddha.
The second figure from the right is Maha Maya, who holds on to a branch of a tree. According to the source, this is either a sala tree, a teak tree (fig.), or an ashoka tree.
