  Phra Pok Klao Bridge

The twin Phra Pok Klao Bridge over the Chao Phraya River (fig.) in Bangkok is composed of two bridges, i.e. a northern and a southern viaduct for normal traffic, whilst in wedged between is a third, green viaduct, known as the pedestrian Garden Bridge (fig.).

 

It was built in 1982 on the occasion of the Bicentennial of Rattanakosin and has a has a total length of 745 meter, connecting Phra Nakhon with Thonburi. It is named after Somdet Phra Pokklao, known in the West as King Prajadhipok, i.e. Rama VII, since he opened the nearby Memorial Bridge (fig.).
