Whereas the 18 meter high masonry
part of the edifice is original, the wooden
sala-style
structure with
pyatthat-like
roof on the top was added later and increases the tower's height to
27 meter. As palace pavilions were built of wood, the tower is all that today remains
of the palace built by
King Bagyidaw, the 7th king of the Konbaung Dynasty (1819-1837 AD). |
